In order to take full advantage of your stay in the U.S., you will want to be in excellent health. If you are using any medication on a daily basis we advise you to check with your doctor prior to your departure and purchase any medicine you may need during your stay in the U.S. Please be sure that you bring with you an adequate supply of any prescription medication you may need while staying in the U.S., and carry your medication with you in your carry-on bag on the airplane so that you will have them just in case your luggage is delayed. You must have a current, written prescription IN ENGLISH for any unusual or controlled drugs you may require while staying in the U.S. If you use contact lenses or glasses, please make sure to bring an extra pair if you can, and a copy of your optometric prescription if possible.
Upon your arrival, you will be issued a health benefits card by the U.S. Department of State that will be valid during the Institute. The benefits cover all accidents, illnesses, and emergencies. You will be responsible for paying the $25 co-pay for each visit.
Please note carefully: pre-existing conditions are NOT covered by the plan, which includes any medical condition you have prior to arriving in the U.S. and medications you use to treat these conditions. Again, if you take any medication on a regular basis at home, please be sure to bring enough with you to last your entire stay in the U.S.
